Swartz Campbell Obtains Defense Verdict in Asbestos Claim in Pennsylvania

Scranton, PA November 15, 2017 – Following a three-week trial in Lackawanna County, PA, Swartz Campbell LLC obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a global leader of cooling and heating products. Swartz Campbell lawyer Gregory Stokes served as local trial counsel in the case involving claims of strict products liability and negligence.
A jury of twelve returned a verdict in favor of the five remaining defendants following two hours of deliberations. The case was tried before Judge Terrance R. Nealon. Plaintiffs’ claims were based on Mr. Robert Horst’s alleged exposure to asbestos-containing products while working as a residential HVAC contractor from 1970-1978, resulting in the development of mesothelioma.
Plaintiffs were represented by Baron & Budd, P.C. Kathryn Pryor, Esq. and Chad Cotten, Esq. tried the case on behalf of Plaintiffs.
This was the first asbestos trial in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas.
