Swartz Campbell is sad to announce the loss of Kevin J. Canavan who was a long time partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office.
Mr. Canavan’s obituary is as follows:
“Kevin J. Canavan, aged 69, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2023. After graduating from St. Joseph’s Preparatory School for Boys, Kevin went to Lafayette College where he graduated with honors in Government and Law. He then received his law degree from Villanova Law School. Kevin was a proud member at Zeta Phi’s Tau Chapter at Lafayette, where his involvement continued throughout his life. Kevin was General Council and a Board Member for Zeta Phi International Fraternity and Vice President of the Tau Chapter. Kevin served on the Executive Committee of the Zeta Psi Fraternity, Inc., from 2011 to 2023. In 2017, he was awarded the Admiral James J. Carey leadership award in Louisville, Kentucky. He also received a special award for his service to the Lafayette College. After graduating from Villanova, Kevin was an assistant District Attorney in Northampton County before joining Swartz Campbell as a litigator a year later. Kevin loved golf and, as a top caddy at Cedarbrook received a J. Wood Platt Caddy Scholarship to attend Lafayette. He also caddied for two years on the LPGA Tour. In addition to being a long-time Board member at J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust, Kevin was a much-valued Senior Warden at St.Thomas’s Church Kevin was a member at Philadelphia Cricket Club, Manufacturers, Old York Road and Hidden Creek and The Racquet Club of Philadelphia. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Marian and Bernard, his brother Brian and sister Kathy and is survived by his daughter Carolina Millard.”
