THOMAS GEBLER joined Swartz Campbell in the Pittsburgh office after practicing for over 30 years in that city. Tom is originally from the Philadelphia area and graduated from Temple University with a B.A., Magna cum laude in 1979. He obtained his law degree from Duquesne University in 1983. He is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Western District and the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Gebler is a member of the American Bar Association (Tort and Insurance Practice Section, Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee and the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee), the Pennsylvania Bar Association (Civil Litigation Section) and the Allegheny County Bar Association (Civil Litigation Section, past council member). He is also active the the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association.
Although during his career Tom has handled a variety of civil litigation, at the present time he concentrates his practice in commercial litigation including claims pursuant to the PA Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law and related matters. Tom has also been involved in various cases with technology issues including computer fraud coverage claims. These include a claim for first party coverage for alleged violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act as well as litigation of third-party claims for violation of privacy, defamation and similar wrongful acts. He also represents clients in fidelity and surety matters, the defense of employment and civil right litigation and insurance coverage analysis and litigation.
Prior to beginning his legal career, Tom served with the U.S. Coast Guard where he operated as a Boating Safety and Law Enforcement Specialist. In this free time, Tom can usually be found at one of the Pittsburgh area ice rinks with his skating family or serving as a referee for various ice youth and high school hockey leagues.
